Led by seven touchdown passes by Quarterback Joe Urso and four scores by Darryl Overton Jr., the Chesapeake Tide closed out the 2008 season with a 55-47 win over the New Jersey Revolution. After a 0-6 start, the Tide finished the season 2-4 to complete the 2008 campaign at 2-10. With four of those losses by eight points or less, and the 6-5 Lehigh Valley Outlawz heading to the CIFL playoffs, the Tide are left to wonder what a few key plays could have done for their season. "Looking back at the Rochester, New England, and Fort Wayne games, where their defenses stopped us, when a touchdown would have put us ahead or in overtime, and the New Jersey game where they stopped a 2-point attempt that would have put us into overtime, we were literally four plays away from 6-6, but you have to make those plays," stated Tide General Manager, John Wolfe. Urso had his finest game of the season totaling seven touchdown passes on 18 of 26 passing for 251 yards. Overton was on the receiving end of three of the strikes and added a rushing touchdown to total four scores. Overton had four rushes for 46 yards and nine receptions for 95 yards. Ray McCarter, Jr. added six receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns and Sean Lipscomb and Daryl Disbrow both pulled in receiving scores. On defense Sammy Jenkins once again led the way with seven tackles (6 solo and 2 assists) and newcomer Mykle Bouie racked up six tackles (5 solo and 2 assists). Savon McLemore and Junior Scott both added 3.5 tackles (3 solo and 1 assist). The Tide would like to thank their fans for their support in the 2008 season. As was announced earlier in the season, the CIFL took over operating control of the team for the latter part of the season. As the CIFL heads into the playoffs, the league is also working on solidifying plans for an indoor team in the region for 2009.
